Wowch Leggings

I first saw these leggings goodness knows how long ago and I really wanted to get a pair for myself, and it seems after I work industriously this weekend I'll be able to afford a pair; although at the moment my mother is egging me on to get myself alaptop to write notes for university with. I don't know how well that will go really since these beauties are on sale and their can't be too many left in their numbers! I know the perfect shoes to wear them with and I'm super psyched to know the identity of these leggings featuring cats on the knees is produced by Wowch!

Being an atypical hipster I would prioritise the cat leggings over the wolves but both are equally fierce; I just happen to favour the single shade colour of the cats rather than the wolves subtle shades of grey as well as yellow eyes. While they have been layered as a staple piece for laying, I know that I would love to wear these with vintage capes as well as parkas and toggle coats when the weather turns cold. Each of the designs for Wowch are printed on American Apparel clothing so you can be assured of their quality, and as mentioned before artists Ann Muddy featured the cat leggings in one of her drawings. 

Really love the vibrant backgrounds behind the leggings there, it's sort of mind-bendingly distracting but at the same time very fitting and kinda soothing to see the two wild designs paired up together. Sort of like the perfect marriage and the relief you feel when your best friend finds a nice guy to date.

Vintage Sweethearts

After discovering that Solestruck shoes offer vintage treats as well as brands such as Jeffrey Campbell, the most fascinating line of Doc Martens and many others as well as a new muse in terms of vintage clothing online I'm in a bit of a fervent mood to see more of the wildly mismatched dresses and skirts. I'm no stranger myself to wearing sun dresses that end at the knee and recreating vintage styles of clothing as new and rockabilly style seems to be becoming increasingly popular. I must say I do like their thick chunky heels of the shoes with tights where appropriate and the pleats and folds of the skirts above. I suppose for a photographer to see a group of ladies, all friends walking together in such a style it would not be an opportunity to pass-up if you could sweetly ask them to line up for a camera lens.

There are vintage materials which I am fonder than others, such as crushed velvet and tapestry the epitome of vintage fabric; these two particularly seem to shamelessly flaunt and embody the vintage style no matter what shape of form they take. I'm fond of both when used for furniture but I also wouldn't turn down a good tapestry bag or a cute velvet skirt. With vintage pieces there can be such care and detail to hide the zippers and stitching compared to the mass-produced atrocities of today's society. And should the two pieces cos the same amount of money, I know how I'm banking on.

Some people hunt around second hand shops oping to find pristine pieces that have never been worn and don't have a history to them. I on the other hand enjoy the rich history, the wear and tare as well as the character of a piece such as these charming platform Mary Janes in black capped off with black embroidered stitching. While they are clearly showing signs of age with material faintly ripping and becoming thread-bare at the bottom the sheer purple socks with pink polka dots and frills adds a more modern touch to them and its eclectic rather than shabby chic.

If I'm not too careful I may even include a post on its own of tights when I collect a few more images to put together; and maybe when I'm more in the mood for it in the harsh Winter months. I only began to wear tights in my final year of high school when the chill was getting too much for me and I was past the age of wearing knee high socks- and when you get used to the clingy feeling of synthetic fabric trapping you, it's almost reassuring.

My favourite vintage throw-back pieces are the sharp and neat collars on thin and airy blouses, as well as soft and furry cardigans and thick knitted sweaters with love in every stitch. I'm probably some sort of hopeless romantic when it comes to the way I dress but I would like to think that I also have a bit of edge about my look especially when it comes to unique pieces and silver jewellery. I like the modern touches to the vintage ensemble of the iPhone in hand as well as the Miu Miu silk cat Mary Jane pumps; they go well with the geeky white socks and the short, black leather shorts.

Black Mood

I'm not in my usual dark and mysterious, black-magic-loving mood but I still can't help but sort out some of my favourite images conveying a mystical mood. I am attracted to the notion of shutting myself away in my room, burning a scented candle and reading 'The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy' but after being in a frenzied shirt for my work shirt as well as my wallet, I turned the place upside down and into another mess so that's a no-go zone for the next few days till I have motivation to clean and fold clothes once again. So although I'm off my usual mood of loving black and have been buying colourful things as of late, I wouldn't turn down the opportunity to create some of my own magical photographs by using a shattered lens cap to create warped images such as this. Since Kodak is on the verge of delcaring bankrupcy I find myself moving towards creating photographs that can't be created using a digital camera in a sort of vendetta against the digital age.

Another mystical tool I'm longing to decorate my room with is a lovely set of healing chakra crystals- sat on top of a desk or wardrobe but first I have to wait to get the guts to clean all the dust away. Still, it may be a worthwhile endeavour to see the different shards and spectrum of colours sealed within the walls of these darkly coloured crystals. The hexagonal points lets the light bounce off in all manner of wonderful ways but it also looks a bit like jelly too.

As well as updating my room I'd love to update my hair but I'm also wary of the way everyone around me would take to it! I don't have the pale complexion and blue eyes of this lucky girls to be able to wear soft pink hair, my nose is a little too broad and features aren't all that delicate. The only thing I've managed to start off this year is shaping my eyebrows in the way I want- I still don't know whether I'll dip dye my hair... I'm happy just to admire others who have taken the plunge and accepted the commitment.

While I am in a bit of a colour-loving mood, I still want to get my hands on some creepers. Currently my staff-discount is a ticking-time-bomb waiting to expire so I'm hoping to get everything I can out of my retail experience before it all comes to an end. Unfortunately my manager had no information that was of use as to whether I'll be kept on or anyone else being kept on, when my discount ends and when I have to hand in my keycard. Maybe I'll be able to get a few good book bags, satchels and a pair of black shoes in creepers style before it all comes to an unholy end.

I haven't totally abandoned my love of dark magic, I really want a Nick Von K necklace of a cow skull which comes in brass and sterling silver. While I would never be allowed to display a real cow skull in my necklace my mother can't put up too much of a fuss if I were to wear a smaller one around my neck. It would look fantastic against a black plain dress and I also wouldn't mind seeing the colours of the metal clashing with a vintage, floral patterened dress. I have now given up on buying a cheaper and smaller cow necklace skull from one of my local shops, instead I've got my eyes on the lovely creations from Nick Von K and his four collections.

Despite hitting the middle of Summer, wearing black patterned tights won't go out of style for a while- I should invest in a few pairs of myself. I'm thinking of getting dotted tights as well as tights dotted with hearts. I have no idea as to what brands are good and bad and I don't exactly like buying non-branded stuff from eBay so maybe I'll just stick to hunting around Myer's ladies accessory department.
