Young Models, Vintage Style

I make no secret of my love of vintage clothing and style being popularised, at the age of about fourteen or fifteen I was interested in Nu Wave as well as bright neon colours and patterns resembling paint splats. At the age of eighteen I more commonly wear a paisley shift dress in purple as well as sun dresses but I find it hard to find the perfect 1960s clothing in patterns that aren't completely bombastic or have the right amount of eclecticism. It's probably just a hard task since I can be quite picky about the prints of clothing but I love the pansy print on this shirt shown above and the clashing pants in their own striped pattern.

Karen Walker has been releasing somepieces that are absolute gems in terms of recreating the vintage style. There's quite a few chic patterns from across a range of her collections that I like including a dress covered in a pattern of hydrangea. I love the high necked collar as well as ruffles and bow at the top of this blouse and the long dart down the middle- it's a little different in design for that reason and the dart makes it a little more alluring and sexy for the guys too.

I can't quite read the writing for the dress above, I think it says Vanishing Elephant and while that is a fashion brand I thought they predominantly dealt in men's fashion and had never before delved into the feminine world of fashion. This is probably going to bother me all day and keep me up all night- I love the ruffled effect as well as the small flowers sewn onto small sheer inserts. There's nothing too showy about it though- it's just a very sweet design with intricate sewn detail in a gorgeous colour. I must be in a very green mood to be commenting both on this dress as well as the Karen Walker blouse, but I'm dying to know where I can buy such a dress! It's a good thing I don't have the money to pay for it at the moment either, this way I can just pass off the item as being a matter of money rather than a lack of knowledge of its origins.

I myself have worn a blazer without anything else on underneath, just for a little photography at home but I must say, the Fiorina necklace at the centre is simply gorgeous and her stomach partially hidden under Sretsis shorts is enough to put a girl to shame.

Sretsis: AW12 Oh, My Dear, Deer!

The Melbourne heat wave must be frying my brain- it's not even the middle of Summer yet and I just want to cosy up with some comfy jumpers and be able to go outside without sweet profusely. It's not all doom and gloom- today my 2012 diary arrived today and it's a recycled Little Golden Book, specifically Walt Disney's Bambi! So after roughly flicking through the contents of my new diary, I'm in a deer-loving mood- this tension is only heightened by looking at the Autumn/ Winter collection Sretsis has in store for us this year! After sussing out Wikifashion as well as Maimillia's Sretsis website I found the gorgeous range of clothing- I'm very excited about it all. I first heard about Sretsis after reading about jewellery label Matina Amanita, turns out the two designers are sisters and sometimes collaborate their two brands. I've been a fan of both labels for a while but this deer inspired collection has me particularly excited.

I love thepainterly impression given by this fawn on a jumper with a black background. This year I should have  my mind focused on study, bit I can't help feeling that I should catch up on part-time work to make up for lost years and intense focus towards my VCE. Someone very wise and a little cynical once told that the ATAR score doesn't count for anything, it just gets you into your course. Since I should be safe in getting what I want, I can have more time to earn money and buy lovely clothing! Right now, the Sretsis AW12 collection is available to pre-order and will arrive on your doorsteps in March. At $263 AUD, I wouldn't mind getting this artistic piece for myself.

The collection has a lot of deer themed clothing, from the spotted and speckled jeans to the fawn inspired patterned jackets, dresses and jumpsuits. From their professional photo shoot these two lucky and lovely ladies is my favourite snap- it's overloaded and oozing with deer inspired clothing. I love the casual mai length dress in a light and soft brown colour which features another of the painted fawns- it features a loose fit with sleeves and the hem allows you to float around gently. I'm not sure as to whether I'd be brave enough to tackle a full deer fur inspired dress, but the use of the blazer with thin brown pinstripes on white is a nice touch to tone it down.

The Sretsis Autumn Winter collection combines the best of imaginative prints, luxurious materials and chic, comfy clothing. The deer printed pants and blouse combination would be perfect to hang on to for costume parties when teamed up with a pair of antlers and a little tail- even teaming up the pants with a classic rock band sleeveless shirt, a good leather hang bag and a lot of attitude. As well as clothing Sretsis also dabbles in making gorgeous sunglasses with floral motifs and thick chunky boots. The black ones remind me a little of Jeffrey Campbell boots but the cork effect around the soles allow them to be worn with brown clothes.

Sretsis creator and lead designer Pim Sukhahuta graduated from the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York in 2003 already with a store, two fashion shows, and a covetable internship with Marc Jacobs to her name. Sretsis is a collaboration between Pim and her two sisters, Kly and Matina. In fact, the name Sretsis translates to sisters spelled backwards.

As well as deer inspired clothes, there's a few chich blouses and skirts which feature flowers made of tulle and the collars of their blouses are siply gorgeous. Despite having left high school and seeing the backside of lockers, pencilases and grumpy teachers I can't resist channeling school girl charm with sharp clean blouses such as the new range to be released in March as well as leather satchels. There's a lot of variety to choose from as always and I am definitely going to have some tough decisions ahead of me choosing between denim shorts with deer spots in white, gorgeous floaty dresses as well as artistic prints of  deer in singlets and skirts. Then there's the wooden heeled boots with deer fur patterned, I love them too their so gorgeous. Definitely some of the shoes I'll be pining for in the next season.

Matina Amanita

So I first fell in love with Matina Amanita when they were introduced to me in imitation of the style of Zippora Seven: with her gentle eclecticism, her beguiling eyes and her floral doc martens. All things to die for. I owe my love and obsession with rings to her and reading of her in Australia Vogue of December 2008. So long ago, and how it has changed me. Expensive tastes in jewelery and debt can be blamed on a simple article with artistic arrangement and silver and gold combined with awe-inspiring shapes with precious stones.

So I love it; I can't help but gush about it. It is AMAZING.

And now several pages of pictures followed by some more writing about seven billion scrolls later:

I'm going to get the broken ring on the far right in the mail soon! *fan-girls around the room and then passes out*
Cupids holding gems above their heads, my god I want them all!

Mount Olympus range, cue drooling.

Even the packaging is beautiful yet so different for each range. I have a tiny gold gilt box for me ring from the Teeny Tiny collection that looks like a book. So sweet.

OLYMPUS

I bought the mint/bluesy green one on the bottom that says Broken
Heartbeat 09. Possibly my most coveted ring to receive on Valentine's Day. I would do loving, but oh so unrespectable things to the man to gift me this on the most loved up day on the calender.

Canadian totem poles are the shit.

Autumn/ Winter 2009, "Warrior Till Death"

The Lover's ring, 06.

Look at what they have in store for their Autumn/ Winter 2010 range!!
JUST SHUT UP AND LOOK AT IT! DOES IT NOT FILL YOUR SOUL WITH MAGIC YOU NEVER THOUGHT EXISTED!!?

If it does not fill your soul with magic and make you giddy deep within your loins stupid mortals than you obviously do not understand or comprehend these things than you never will. EVER.

SO this shit is amazing. Like seriously some of the greatest craftsmen ship I have ever seen, the detail is superb. I have just one Matina Amanita piece myself and it is the Spring/Summer 2010 Teeny Tiny range. It is a tiny flower ring in purple, there are enamel flowers and an amethyst in the middle, sterling silver with gold plate.
Forget you!? HOW CAN I BARE TO LEAVE YOU IN THE MORNINGS!?
But seriously yes, amazing. Detail on the ring is to look like a tiny branch. Dear ring, if my boyfriend leaves you can have my babies instead. OK? Yes, deal.
I would buy so many more of these pieces if they came up on eBay within my region and also if I wasn't poor. Alas.

Matina Amanita of Old:
I can not find any of these pieces any where on the internet, there is no hint of their existence except for echoes within the deepest recesses of my memories. But oh my lord, look at how beautiful they are! It would bring a tear to my eye were it not so damaged already from overuse!

The Rose gold carousel necklace, with crystal! WHY DOES NO ONE ON EBAY WANNA LET YOU GO?!! (dumb question really)

And now for the rest of the pictures that you must see and fall in live with as I have with sweet short commentary from, Moi.

Zodiac rings, I really wish I didn't have a lame star sign like Libra... THE SCALES! OK, yes I complain a lot when things aren't fair and I believe in karma and all other sort of cosmic stuff like that but seriously couldn't I have gotten something that would look amazing on a gold ring!?

Unicorns battling each other on my fingers? Yes please. Can I have 4890358095786905760 of them?

Globetrotters range of 2009.

I love this one the most it is just... the shit. Gaudi's Magic. I want you.

Taj Mahal in green!! They are so many colour variations for the globetrotters range especially for the Candy Castle and the Taj Mahal. I am loving it.

Mount Olympus
I love antlers shit loads.

Trojan horse necklace in Gold, Rose gold and sterling silver. Or maybe it was vermeil...

This was part of the spread in the vogue issue that started my love affair with Matina Amanita...

Globetrotters

Leopard cuff, got to love those mesmerizing eyebrows. Those are the things that dreams and long lived marriages are made of.

And on that note I give up writing a proper conclusion to this post and say to you all good night, and I swear I am usually not this lazy. Tonight is a special night though. Adieu!
