Glitter Vans

Unfortunately for you and me dear reader, there's not as many results and colour variations for glittery coloured Vans casual skate shoes at the moment but maybe we'll see a few more released in the coming weeks and months? I got to see this first image from the Lazy Oaf Tumblr but nothing much else has arisen in terms of news or perhaps a new range of shoes in this effect for Vans. I can only find the red glittery vans so far for the full effect- but if you have a Mexican flavour or just want to let your hair down and dance the night away, why not wear something comfy and eye-catching as well? You're sure to turn a few heads with these babies on your feet and collect some compliments as well.

Just because I felt like sharing a Google Image result for 'Glitter Vans' too, there's a shot of gold sparkly plastic overflowing from a perturbed looking lady. Just on a conversational tangent regarding glitter and it's application in photography not only can you add it to a printed photograph to turn the mouth of Santogold into a gold spewing goddess, I've also seen a thin slit of glitter applied to the skin and a knife on the side of an arm with glitter on the floor next to the arm in a dripping sort of effect.

You could probably execute some mean jazz hands wearing these bad boys but in my personal experiences, red shoes such as these are a little more difficult to incorporate into an outfit but if you're a master of drapery and eclectic styling than you really should have no problems. It's not enough for an item of clothing to be beautiful by itself and look amazing, but an important thing to recognise is how to wear it as well to bring out its majesty and show it off to everyone else around you too.

Sparkle

What better motivation to put some sparkle back in your life than to look at people prettier, see things done by people more creative than you and listen to the fell-good stylings of Art Vs Science play their hit song, 'Flippers'. At the moment I'm waiting by the phone and seeing when I get my hours for the basketball tournament this week and find out which venue I'll be dumped at. The good thing about this upcoming tournament is I can buy some more things I've had my eye on and I've been motivated to get on the exercise bike a lot more this past week in fear of being unable to keep up with the play up and down the court.

I've been meaning to hang up some bunting or letters across wires in my room but there's the minor details of I have no means of hanging up wires or string in the first place and my room isn't really set up to zigzag things overhead. All the cupboards that would be used to create such an effect are against the walls or my room and darting things overhead would be a bit of a bother, but on the plus side I would have somewhere to put all my old Christmas cards and birthday cards I can't bring myself to throw away.

I really don't go outside often enough to get some fresh air, especially at dusk when the mosquitoes are most likely to bite me. I'm already covered in bites and spend too much time scratching them when I'm trying to sleep so I don't want to increase my chances of meeting with the annoyances anymore than I already have. This time last year I was still in California on the tale end of my student exchange and twenty day holiday and I took some good sunset photographs over there, but nothing to this calibre. I've never quite seen such a variation in shades of the sky but there have been some spectacular pink and orange sunsets in my very own front yard.

Although the hypnotism/ healing crystals used as a pendulum aren't that expensive by themselves, it seems those wanting to use the pyramid shaped stones in the jewellery world have no conscience as far as charging whatever prices they like. Unearthen are charging $215 AUD for a small pendulum crystal as well as gold band ring and Clink jewellery charge just under $100 NZ for their necklaces. If you're a bit stint like me and want to save a little money, what you can do is buy your own chain and then buy a healing pendulum charm separately, mash the two together and hey presto you have a cool looking necklace! This tactic has been working for me since I was about ten and working pliers carefully so I see no reason it can't work for you.

Is this the real Life?

I don't mind telling you that when I saw this photograph from the micro-blogging site Tumblr, I silently lost my shit and several things went through my mind at once. The first was, does such a thing really exist and if so, where do I have to hunt it down and fight other fashion hungry girls for it? The second was whether the applied look on lips looks as fantastic as the pure and thick stick of lipstick shown here. I must have been some sort of bower bird in a past life because all I can think about now is collecting shiny things particularly buying nail polish with sparkles as well as any other sticks of lipstick with glitter in them. It's probably a very cheap brand and the quality would be terrible but I still hang on to a small glimmer of hope that the perfect lipstick really does exist out there, somewhere in the deep reaches of space and I just have to search to find such a lost treasure.

Bling

I've been splashing out on luxury items for the past few days, burning up nearly half of my fat pay-check after working in the pre-Christmas season but it seems that my prays have been answered and I will now be delivering catalogues once a week in my local area. Laugh all you want, for it's not glamorous and in no way something to brag about but at the moment I'm so desperate to take on any job I'm willing to do it. Anything that brings me closer to getting to own gorgeous and shiny things isn't all that bad- and now I'll have something that forces me to get some fresh air and a little exercise, walking just under two kilometres for each round. I could be able to get something pretty from this post such as a frenzy of sequins attached to a little clutch or some very thick and gorgeous gold rings.

I love the romantictone of the lighting of this photograph as well as the sheer blouse- which reminds me that I have a lovely American Apparel blouse heading my way soon when my Paypal clears through. I don't have a mirrored disco ball to hold in front of my face but I have danced on floors where the shimmering lights bathe the interior.

I wish I could have bought a plain black gem and gold metal Yves Saint Laurent Arty ring when I had the chance- I don't really like any of the colours that I've seen and the two designs I have fallen in love with are very elusive on the online market. That is this black beauty and a purple and pink glass arty ring. While I could always go for broke and get a cheap knock-off and there are plenty I take pride in wearing good brands and not ripping off original and ingenuity in designs. It may take a while for another lovely looking ring to come online or on eBay but with a little extra pocket money I'll be able to save for it now and pounce on the opportunity when it eventuates.

While all good colours of the YSL arty oval ring seem to have disappeared off the face of the planet, I may indulge myself in a dotty arty ring such as the one shown above. The white dots in glass embedded in a gold ring seems to go with any ensemble and seems especially sweet and pretty with this punk but tough ensemble. It must be the added studs. While I can't afford the best of glamorous gold items now I'm sure with a few more eBay listings under my belt and my paper round I'll get around to it and save some money to keep my mother at ease.

A final way to add glamour to an outfit or photograph is the careful and judicious application of make up such as Denni from the Chicmuse wearing shimmering and golden eyeshadow and sporting red lipstick. I've got my eye on a few vintage Chanel choker necklaces as well as pieces from Claire Inc., but for now all that will have to be on hold till I can get a little more money behind me as well as cleaning my room and starting university. There's so much to look forward to this year and the fashion is a rather large aspect I eagerly anticipate.
