Is this the real Life?

I don't mind telling you that when I saw this photograph from the micro-blogging site Tumblr, I silently lost my shit and several things went through my mind at once. The first was, does such a thing really exist and if so, where do I have to hunt it down and fight other fashion hungry girls for it? The second was whether the applied look on lips looks as fantastic as the pure and thick stick of lipstick shown here. I must have been some sort of bower bird in a past life because all I can think about now is collecting shiny things particularly buying nail polish with sparkles as well as any other sticks of lipstick with glitter in them. It's probably a very cheap brand and the quality would be terrible but I still hang on to a small glimmer of hope that the perfect lipstick really does exist out there, somewhere in the deep reaches of space and I just have to search to find such a lost treasure.

Lime Crime: Twiggy

Here's the original Twiggy in all her mod glory sporting her signature look of long and thick mascara-tinted lashes and brightly coloured blue eyeshadow. From this one photograph she radiates attitude with her devil-may-care look as well as those smouldering eyes looking right down the barrel of the camera.

The mod look emphasizes the eyes. Twiggy is wearing strong eyeliner, sharply defined crease and white pencil on the inner rim of the eye. Prep the lids with Eyeshadow Helper to ensure crease-free, lasting results. Draw a line with a brown pencil well above your natural crease (it doesn't have to be perfect) extending it downward. Pop bright turquoise eyeshadow like Troubadour onto the lid, below the crease line. With a thin brush, deepen the crease with a brown eyeshadow (we used Dragon Scales). Work over it with a brush lightly but don't overblend -- we want it to be nice and sharp! Fill in the space under the brows with white eyeshadow like Top Hattie.

I love the use of brightly coloured orange lipstick with matching metal flower earrings (looks like clip-ons to me) and the clip on collar which features a fluffy yellow cat on each tip. Artistic make up

The more the fashion world expands and make up is continually done and redone, the more creative minds choose to push the envelope and expand their artistic boundaries by bringing to the world the new, the weird and the wonderful. These three photographs are the embodiment of that progression of ideas and the way designers are becoming visionaries, blurring the lines between what is art and what is fashion and melding the two ideas together into unison.

This mosaic mirror effect transforms the human face into what more closely resembles a disco ball and heightens the angular structure of the jaw line as well as nose bridge. The hipster hair cut that's half shaved off makes a bit of an odd contrast as well as the tan, naked half of the model but the plain white wall behind what looks to be a sad and morose figure seems fitting. I can't imagine any person in the world, let alone a man that would enjoy having glass glued to his face in the name of photography to look new and edgy.

The combination of pink nails, matching lipstick as well as the curious fringing effect makes my dying to redo my nails or better yet, get a proper manicure to take care of my nails. I have a box of nail stickers from Sally Hansen from my birthday in sparkly blue/ silver I've been waiting to break out but I have nothing really special coming up on the calender other than waiting for my pay check to come through.

Like the second photograph, the use of chain fringing mimics something you'd expect to see on a lampshade inside a spinster's apartment. I was originally trying to find photographs that looked like trailing beads off of lamps and then decided it was too hard. No- the main development in the fashion world beside the new structures and emerging materials from fresh new faces is also the presentation of models and growing important of make up used to make an impact on a crowd and really burn into their memories a fashion collection.

Lime Crime: Winter Spell

 

With the festive season coming to it's culmination and pinnacle on Christmas Day, I feel a little bit cheated living in the Southern Hemisphere on a fairly dry continent and not being able to enjoy the soft and frosted magic that is snow. I have seen snow before and have somewhat been able to ski as well as snowboard competently but it'd just be nice to see it and decorate my hair with it's soft flakes.

Gold Leaf Makeup

It's extraordinary, breath-taking and I didn't even dream that this effect could be used as a runway look. It's so modern, isn't it? That mild metallic infection hinting at the developments in terms of technology made by society... although that really has little to do with the overall runway look or application of this technique.

It may not be much, but for what it's worth I still think that the use of gold foil as eyeshadow in the modelling world is wild and fantastic. Of course it looks brilliant when teamed up with blue or green eyes, just about anything would look great with lustrous eyes like that. I myself prefer my boys to be blue eyed.

If the tin man had a sexy wife, I'm sure she'd have gold foil over her eyelids and eyebrows too.


Those poor models though! It must be dizzying and disorientating even to have the slightest weight on your eyelid. I shudder at the thought of having to play dolly and sit patiently while the preparation takes place to apply those tiny sheets of foil... it's hard enough when I try to apply fake eyelashes, but then again I do it myself and without any one's help. I'm guessing that's not a usual thing to do when getting dolled up.

The use of thick eyeliner adder for dramatic effect and theatrics only makes the gold foil look even more dazzling and pure. I can't think of a better use for such a precious elemental material, that is if it is real gold used.

Pastel eyes

The best thing about wild coloured eye make up that's silver and pink is that it works well with those with delicate features and sort of a fair but not pale complexion. They just look so beautiful, like a faery's child really. There's a beautiful contrast between the sparkly pink eye shadow surrounding the eyes, the white tinted mascara and the darker pink eye pencil run through the brows. 

Models are a bit like actresses in that sense, the way they portray someone else and a certain mood in a photograph rather than their mannerisms, voice and behaviour. They paint a picture of the way a designer hopes their collection to be perceived and from that they create an imaginary world of their own. Beauty and culture combined into the statement of clothing, combined as well with beautiful make up to contrast against them.
