Sky Ferreira

In days of old when I thought using a second hand iPod touch was the coolest thing ever I had a few pictures of models I picked up here and there; the first being a topless model sporting a nipple piercing, belly bar as well as nose piercing with brown hair- more commonly known as Abbey Lee Kershaw who has since been dubbed as a super model. One of the others was still so young she had braces on but long luxurious flowing blond hair in curvaceous volume by the name of Sky Ferreira whom everyone was still waiting to mature and explode on to the scene. Since then, nearly all of the google images of her wearing her braces have gone and have instead been replaced with smouldering stares and glazed looks as well as her signature blond locks. I would kill to have hair as long as hers and of that texture.

I love her styled with her hair looking natural and much like a ragamuffin but when straightened the colours and tones of her hair all melt together, the only thing being bright are her luscious lips. It's possibly one of the best assets about her face, other than those big eyes and I don't think I ever have lips as full as that- unless I've eaten something spicy or I've been clumsy enough to bite my own lip.

Shown above in her own magazine article entitled 'Star Search: Sky Ferreira- Hurricane Lolita' and I think she really does fit the mould of being a young star since she's got miles and miles of images and photographs which she's starred in as well as a career as a model, singer, songwriter and actress. She's already achieved so much in her short life and it's rather depressing to compare her success to my own when she's just a year older than I am. Although she's most noted for her career in music, I think I prefer her best as a talent and a model.

As viewed by the friendly and mostly teenage blogging audience at Tumblr, Ferreira has been described as 'looking drunk in all her photographs' and anyone who can say such unkind criticism about this young starlet clearly hasn't seen her modelling photographs properly. The glazed look in her eyes is due to an unusual hazel colour that can look a lot brighter with professional photographic flashes as well as dark and sometimes smudgy eyeliner about the eyes. However, I think she looks rather fierce in many of her photo shoots and although her hair is wild and wavy which may radiate an untidy and inept look, it is her signature look which has really put her on the map as a recognisable and attractive model.

She's really quite a quirky character to fall in love with as well- I think some of my favourite pictures of Sky Ferreira are when she's wearing her own clothing or something in black. I have seen a fantastic photograph of her wearing a smock style dress all in leather with sheer tights which were nicely contrasted and complemented by her long and blond ragamuffin hair. Only someone of unique ingenuity and style could make such unusual glasses seem so cool- must be those masses of curls.

I myself had a front fringe which covered a whole side of my face and eye but I could never have the confidence and tenacity to look as fierce as Sky does here- although I never did wear red lipstick or the distant relics of pink and purple streaks in my hair at the time. I love the matching of reds between her lips and cardigan as well as the fine use of lip liner for full definition and oomph when it comes to her lips, arguably one of her best modelling attributes.

Whenever I view a photograph with such beautiful and romantic soft focus and arching finesse I long to be one of those pretty and popular girls with blond hair that would go out with mascara tinted eyelashes and lipstick ready to ruin in a moment of alcohol-fuelled passion. I suppose I blog to precariously live through the lives of beautiful people and hope to be one day recognised as a great blogger/ writer and get invited to fashion week celebrations and events.

It's hard to believe these two figures pictured side-by-side are one and the same person isn't it? On the left is the more current and up to date Sky Ferreira whom everyone is a little more familiar with sporting blond hair and red lips and on the right is her grungy and younger self with purple and pink streaks in her long dark hair with eyeliner full of attitude. Not a lot has changed in terms of her dress sense, but it's amazing the way a change of hair colour can seem to change how approachable a person is and their attitude as reflected from their physical appearance.

I've always been a little dubious when it comes to covering ponytails with a section of hair from the head, but it looks really great and natural in this photograph- a contrast to the lipstick and pale porcelain complexion. Although the curls here have obviously been perfected by a curling iron, it's hard to believe someone with a face as beautiful as Sky's can also be graced with perfect hair! Although the flash appears to have been to close to her face, there's a great contrast of red nails and matching red lipstick as well as yellow hypnotic eyes in the same shade as her hair. Some people really win when it comes to the lottery of life in the looks department, huh?

Blond Models

Due to the omni-present reminder of how perfect Barbie was as a child and how much of a disappointment I was looking next to her, a small part of me will forever wonder what it's like to be a blond girl with blue eyes and every second guy itching to kiss her. Although I'm in love with my long and naturally dark hair, I can't help but want to experience just once and have blond hair. Why not through in a few pink streaks while I'm at it? Knowing me that will be my mid-life crisis stage and I'll become delusional and convince myself I'm model material or something. I just can't help but feel jealous of the model, named Ruby sporting hot pink nails, long socks and denim overalls looking as cute as punch whereas I know if I try to wear such an outfit it will become the stuff of nightmares.

I'm very thankful of the versatility of white and that no matter what your skin and hair colour is, you can always look pure and like an angel in white. White lace in the form of dresses and shirts, as well as the trim for vintage denim shorts has been on my radar for a while now- I'm just waiting for the mood to peak when I buy lace curtains as well as matching pillow covers. White socks that are mid-calf will always be my favourite though, just look at the way they accentuate the legs on the model above? Also helped by the deep pleats at the side of the shorts.

While every person is beautiful in their own special way and there's appeal about one person that is unique, I can't help but lust after the success and flirty light-hearted nature of a blond model in contrast to someone with dark hair. Where a blond girl can wear black lipstick as well as black collared shirt dress and hold candles and look just as eerily and spooky as someone with dark hair, I think that if you want to look sweet and girly being blond gives you an edge.

It's not just the hair colour of a blond that gives them the ability to wear certain colours, a light complexion as well as blue or light green eyes can open the gate to gold tinted lipstick as well as mascara. The hair barrette creating a side fringe too in the same matching gold colour is a cute touch too. Strong structured eyebrows in light honey brown as well give sass and impact to an otherwise impassive face but if someone such as myself with dark eyes and hair had strong structured eyebrows that were a little bit thick as well, then it makes them seem unapproachable rather than someone who has an eye for style and self-pampering.

Why is it that pretty pink pouting lips always look so good with blond hair and a pale complexion and that often, I have none of these admirable qualities? I once heard the suggestion in high school that I should go fully blond and that it would look good by one of those nice but popular guys- can't do it now though. I'm really happy with my length and I'm trying to get it down to my waist and also my boyfriend would freak out. Maintaining roots and stuff all over again would be a nightmare for sure.

Grunge style such as black beanies as well as old band shirts look great when worn by blonds but whenever I seem to get back to my old roots and dress in a similar manner I send off the signals that I'll rip someone's head off if they try to talk to me. Maybe that old and scientifically flawed statement is true- maybe blonds do have more fun.

Blond hair is always a nice contrast with pure white as well as bright colourful florals isn't it? You only live once and I absolutely curse the day I wasn't born a blond- colouring my hair would be made so much easier, and instead I have near black hair as well as dark but not too prominent blond. It's just as well I didn't have light hair, I probably would have tried to colour that once a month which would have damaged it right to the roots I'm sure.

Blond hair dressed in white with the stark and earth-shattering brightness of a camera flash while holding a grey and sooty looking rabbit isn't something you see everyday so enjoy it while you can. Dressed in the same outfit but with irregular tan lines all over my skin and dark hair I'm afraid these wouldn't be the same witchy nature about this photograph. While it is as easy as wearing sunscreen everyday, it's easier to obtain a bottle tan rather than a bottle of pale skin. That's the luck of the draw really, witches being associated with long haired and pale skinned, magically- dark goddess' of the night and myself having a natural light tan.

Chloë Sevigny

If there's one woman who can be proud of her achievements to date, it's one Chloë Sevigny who I know best for her wild and eclectic style as well as influential designs and collaboration with American online store Opening Ceremony. She's also had a rich history as an actress in many supporting and award winning roles, was a former model and also a fashion designer. Her flair for fashion was evident in the 1990s in which New York's Sassy magazine, which labelled her the new it girl at the time, garnering her attention within New York's fashion scene.

Despite being heterosexual myself, there's still nothing more appealing than a girl who is willing to be herself and let her own individual sense of style shine through just as Chloë Sevigny does in this photograph above. I really love her wall as well as the matching red of the walls and her cardigan. I wish I had a hand made jumper knitted for me with my name on it too- but I guess I'll have to make do and save up to buy my own Harry Potter Weasley jumper from Etsy. Although her walls and vanity are cluttered with memorabilia, there's class and chic and order to what at a first glance is mess- something I should really aspire towards myself in my own room.

The impression I'm left with when observing her modelling style is that she;s straight-forward and non-sensical but there's also a flirty allure about her of lace as well as exotic perfumes she has when donning certain dresses. It's almost hard to imagine one single person having such wide and varied success as well as gaining acclaim on the New York fashion scene but it's also every girl at one point in her life aspires towards. I guess if you want something badly enough and are gifted as well, anything is possible and you can reach your full potential to become a truly inspiring feminine figure for a whole new generation of young women.

Chloë Sevigny first drew my attention when I spotted some of her fabulous shoes as well as clothing in collaboration with Opening Ceremony but I also came across a quite from the American starlet: "I'd like to be more approachable, not less weird". It's an interesting sentiment of being able to communicate with others but not compromising your own sense of self and style and I would love to perform a needle point stitch of the quote as a constant reminder to reach my creative peak every day of my life. Her shoes as well as her new collection with Opening Ceremony is a small revelation playing with all sorts of materials as well as the occasional bright burst of colour. I can't wait to get my hands on some of those pieces for myself.

If I'm not mistake, here she is wearing Miu Miu from their 2010 collection in a nude but embellished jewel shirt dress with pucked and pointed collar and also sitting amongst a sea of floral balloons on fake turf. Ah, to be a model and be at the centre of attention of a camera lens as well as be dressed in the finest clothes in surreal settings. It's photographs with aching finesse and imagination that make me long to be skinnier and prettier and fit into this world of fixed visuals and perception.

I didn't know the identity of the figure when I first spotted this image but it now makes sense that it can only be the one and only Chloë Sevigny blowing bubbles and dressed in a tuxedo like suit for women with slick blond hair pulled back. I love the contrast of the little tie on the white bib of the high necked shirt/ jumper.
